Indonesia's Housing Minister Maruarar Sirait warns developers to protect public trust

Housing and Settlement Minister Maruarar Sirait (Ara) cautioned Indonesian property developers to preserve public confidence, saying the government will act fairly but will not hesitate to sanction firms that breach regulations or harm consumers. He emphasized support for innovators and noted that recent incentives – such as exemptions from land and building acquisition taxes, free house certificates and streamlined financing requirements – aim to accelerate the provision of quality housing.

Sirait also urged developers in East Java to cooperate with the government’s subsidised housing scheme, the Liquidity Facility for Housing Financing (FLPP). The programme offers a fixed 5 % interest rate, a repayment term extendable to 40 years and a down‑payment as low as 1 % of the property price, intended to help clear the backlog of home ownership under the national "3 Million Houses" target.
