Indonesia Stock Index (IHSG) Rises on Regional Rally, Nears Resistance
Indonesia’s main stock index, the IHSG, showed renewed strength at the end of July 2026. On July 31 the index opened up 33 points (0.54%) to 6,219, driven by a broader Asian market rally and a firm US Federal Reserve policy stance that kept the benchmark rate at 3.5‑3.75% for the fifth straight meeting. Technical analysis highlighted support around 6,050‑6,130 and a resistance band of 6,200‑6,300.
The market continued its advance on July 30, closing 1.56% higher at 6,186.36 after six consecutive days of decline. Foreign investors posted a net buy of roughly Rp262.8 billion, while ten stocks, including PT Chandra Asri and PT Merdeka Gold, recorded net foreign sells. Sector breadth was broad, with the IDXNCYC and IDXPROPERT indexes leading gains. Earlier, on July 29, the IHSG fell 0.6% to 6,093 amid sell‑offs across most sectors, though the property sector led the declines.
Overall, the index’s movement reflects a mix of domestic technical factors, regional equity trends, and global cues such as US monetary policy and a 1.43% drop in Brent crude to about $89 per barrel.
