Indonesia's Investment Ministry Seeks Additional Rp578 Billion to Boost Mineral Downstream Projects

Indonesia's Ministry of Investment and Downstream Processing, led by Minister Rosan Roeslani, asked the House's Commission XII for an extra Rp578.93 billion in funding. The ministry plans a total budget of Rp2.19 trillion for 2027, but the current indicative ceiling is only Rp625.14 billion, about 37.6% lower than the 2026 allocation.

Roeslani highlighted that the 2027 investment target is 13.8% higher than 2026, with Q1 2026 seeing total investment of Rp498.8 trillion, of which the downstream mineral sector contributed Rp98.3 trillion – roughly 30% of the overall realization. Nickel, copper, tin and bauxite are the main commodities, with projects concentrated outside Java, especially in Central Sulawesi and North Maluku. The ministry also intends to expand the Online Single Submission (OSS) system using AI, big data and blockchain, and to integrate detailed spatial plans for another 400 districts and cities by 2027.
