Indonesia's Java provinces launch emergency water measures for thousands of households
The West Java provincial government declared a drought and forest‑fire emergency on 1 July 2026. BNPB’s data centre chief Abdul Muhari said the measure targets the water crisis in Tasikmalaya, where 850 heads of households in the village of Pedangkamulyan are receiving direct clean‑water distribution.
In Central Java, BNPB chief Letjen TNI Suharyanto oversaw the installation of a more than 30‑km water‑pipeline network in Magelang district. The project restores clean‑water access for roughly 4,000 heads of households across seven villages that were cut off after March 2026 Merapi lahars. Suharyanto said the pipelining is a follow‑up to President Prabowo Subianto’s directive for rapid post‑disaster relief.
