Indonesia's KAI reports CPO dominates plantation freight in early 2026

PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) announced that crude palm oil (CPO) and its derivatives accounted for the majority of plantation freight in the first semester of 2026. The volume of CPO transport rose 17.83 % year‑on‑year to 275,475 tonnes, an increase of about 49,104 tonnes.

Vice President of Corporate Communication Anne Purba said the growth reflects heightened demand for logistics supporting industry, exports and the national biodiesel B50 programme. Rail‑based transport helps secure supply chains, reduces pressure on highways and aligns with Indonesia’s policy to advance downstream oil‑palm processing and renewable energy use.
