Indonesia's Kediri Dhoho Airport Designated as New Hajj Embarkation Hub

Indonesia's Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, led by Minister Mochamad Irfan Yusuf, is preparing Kediri's Dhoho Airport to serve as a new embarkation point for Hajj pilgrims. The move aims to ease congestion at Surabaya's Hajj dormitory and Juanda International Airport, which have struggled with high traffic and limited capacity for wide‑body aircraft.

Officials said Dhoho Airport has sufficient infrastructure for large planes such as the Boeing 777‑300. For the 2027 Hajj season, the airport is expected to handle roughly 10,500 pilgrims from the former Kediri and Madiun residencies, with possible inclusion of Jombang and Bojonegoro districts. A task force comprising police and immigration authorities will oversee operations and curb non‑procedural practices.
