Indonesia's KPK Pursues Two High-Profile Corruption Cases

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said that former parliamentary deputy Harun Masiku remains at large in a bribery case. KPK chair Setyo Budiyanto appealed for public assistance in locating Masiku and noted that the agency may seek an in‑absentia trial if he cannot be found.

In a separate case, the KPK has transferred the indictment of former religious affairs minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas to the Tipikor court. Yaqut is accused of misappropriating Hajj‑quota allocations worth roughly Rp 622 billion. The commission is awaiting a trial schedule and urged citizens to monitor the proceedings. Yaqut’s lawyer cited a memorandum of understanding with Saudi Arabia confirming the quota distribution framework.
