Indonesia's Labor Ministry Teams with Creative Economy Ministry to Expand Jobs and Upgrade Governance

On 4 June 2026, Indonesia’s Minister of Labor Yassierli met with Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya at the Labor Ministry in Jakarta to strengthen cooperation aimed at creating jobs in the creative sector. The ministries discussed accelerating the National Vocational Training Program and the National Internship Hub (MagangHub) as part of economic stimulus and workforce preparation. The partnership, built on a memorandum signed on 13 January 2026, will tailor vocational curricula to 17 creative subsectors—particularly film, gaming, applications, animation, fashion and AI—and promote reskilling for workers affected by layoffs, use the Job‑Loss Guarantee scheme, and fast‑track national competency standards and professional certification for creative workers.

A day earlier, on 3 June 2026, Labor Minister Yassierli underscored the need for stronger governance and accountability within Kemnaker to improve labor services. He outlined reforms such as enhancing performance accountability, integrating data systems for better policy‑making, improving internal risk‑based oversight, and upgrading civil‑servant training modules. These measures aim to ensure that labor programmes, including the new creative‑sector initiatives, are delivered efficiently and reach the public.
