Indonesia expands job protection and Japan apprenticeship programs

The Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) is promoting the Job Loss Protection (JKP) scheme, which provides displaced workers with cash assistance equal to 60 % of their salary for up to six months, as well as labour‑market information, training and career‑counselling. Eligibility requires Indonesian citizenship, employment with a wage, age under 54 and enrolment in national health and employment insurance programmes.

Kemnaker has also opened registration for a Japan‑based apprenticeship programme and a six‑month caregiver (Kaigo) training, both run through the Skillhub platform. Participants receive pre‑departure training, Japanese‑language instruction and, for the apprenticeship, on‑the‑job experience at Japanese firms.

In Jakarta‑East, the Regional Employment Training Centre (PPKD) launched a Mobile Training Unit (MTU) that brought skill‑development courses, including digital‑marketing, directly to 20 local residents. Graduates receive certificates from PPKD and the National Certification Authority, supporting both employment and entrepreneurship.
