Indonesia's LPSK monitors restitution for murder victims and evaluates protection for a doctor's family

The Lembaga Perlindungan Saksi dan Korban (LPSK) is overseeing the execution of court‑ordered restitution for the families of victims in the murder of the head of a BRI branch in Jakarta. A July 2026 Jakarta East District Court ruling ordered five defendants to pay Rp860 million and a later ruling required ten more defendants to pay Rp3.25 billion, with total losses estimated at around Rp5.85 billion. LPSK announced it will coordinate with prosecutors to ensure payment within the 30‑day deadline and will monitor compliance.

Separately, LPSK deputy chair Sri Nurherwati visited the home of the late Dr. Eliza "Icha" Pakaenoni in Baumata village, Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, after the family requested state protection. The team is gathering information and will conduct an assessment to determine the appropriate legal, social, or psychological safeguards for the family and witnesses in a suspected intimidation case. The family, represented by lawyer Viktor Manbait, emphasized the national attention the case has received and the need for security.
