Indonesia LPSK victim protection and restitution

In late July 2026 Indonesia’s Lembaga Perlindungan Saksi dan Korban (LPSK) was active on two fronts. On 21 July, the agency oversaw court‑ordered restitution for the families of murder victims linked to the killing of a BRI branch head in Jakarta, coordinating with prosecutors to secure payments within a 30‑day deadline. At the same time, LPSK began assessing security measures for the family of the late Dr. Eliza "Icha" Pakaenoni after they requested state protection.

Five days later, LPSK’s scope broadened. It assisted a female employee alleging sexual harassment by a union leader in Cikarang, arranging legal safeguards, psychological support, and a safe environment for testimony. The agency also accompanied 13 human‑trafficking victims from West Java to testify in East Nusa Tenggara, providing procedural rights, protection, and psychosocial rehabilitation while working with local authorities. Together, the snapshots show LPSK expanding from monitoring restitution and isolated family protection to a wider role in safeguarding victims of sexual harassment and trafficking across Indonesia.
