Indonesia's MagangHub Internship Program Attracts Over 400,000 Applicants

Indonesia's Ministry of Manpower reports that more than 400,000 candidates have applied for the first phase of the National Internship Programme, MagangHub, while only 50,000 slots are available in the initial batch of a 150,000‑person target. Minister Yassierli said partner companies are currently selecting participants and that a second phase will better match interns to their fields of study.

The programme, aimed at reducing youth unemployment, offers six months of on‑the‑job training, mentorship and skill development. According to Faried Abdurrahman Nur Yuliono, about 30% of past participants received job offers, with the largest hiring sectors being finance, wholesale trade, manufacturing and healthcare. In parallel, the ministry is preparing free vocational training for 270,000 recent high‑school graduates to boost technical and non‑technical competencies.
