Indonesia's major banks set new minimum balances amid OJK's 2026 business plan review

Bank Mandiri, BRI and BNI announced updated minimum balance requirements for a range of savings products, with thresholds as low as Rp5,000 for student accounts and up to Rp1,000,000 for business‑focused accounts. The changes affect customers across retail, payroll and micro‑finance segments and are intended to keep accounts active under the banks' service rules.

The Financial Services Authority (OJK) said it expects clearer direction on the 2026 revision of banks' business plans after negotiations with the industry conclude in July. OJK executive Dian Ediana Rae cited a stabilising rupiah, recovering capital markets and easing geopolitical tensions as factors boosting optimism for the sector and for expanded financing to micro, small and medium‑size enterprises.

Together, the consumer‑focused balance updates and the regulator’s forthcoming plan revision signal an effort to align banking operations with broader economic recovery goals in Indonesia.
