Indonesia's BMKG issues widespread cloud and rain forecasts for June 26‑28, 2026

The Indonesian Agency for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BMKG) has released forecasts for the period 26‑28 June 2026 covering most of the archipelago. In Maluku, eight districts are expected to be cloudy while three areas, including Maluku Tengah and Ambon, face light rain. Papua Barat Daya will see light rain in Kota Sorong and Tambrauw with the rest of the region remaining cloudy. Central Java and the surrounding highlands are forecast to be partly cloudy with isolated light‑to‑moderate showers in locations such as Purwokerto, Banjarnegara and Batang. The Greater Jakarta area (Jabodetabek) is projected to be overcast on 27 June with isolated light rain in parts of Tangerang, while 26 June remains mostly sunny. Sumatra is warned of scattered rain and thunderstorms, especially in Aceh, North Sumatra, Riau and Lampung, with a risk of localized flooding and landslides. Coastal waters in Central Java are expected to experience wave heights up to 4 m, and the northern seas may see elevated tidal surges affecting ports. Across the country, BMKG advises residents to monitor updates, limit outdoor activities during rain periods, avoid low‑lying areas, and take precautions when travelling by sea or road.
