Indonesia's Minister of Law advances copyright revisions and digital voting
Indonesian Minister of Law Supratman Andi Agtas announced that the inventory of problems for the revision of Law Number 28 of 2014 concerning Copyright has been completed. The proposed revision aims to include regulations regarding royalty rights for journalistic works, benefiting both individual journalists and press companies.
To facilitate the legislative process, the Minister is preparing to submit a letter to the President to trigger the issuance of a Presidential Letter (Surpres), which will allow the bill to be formally discussed with the House of Representatives (DPR).
In a separate initiative during a visit to the East Java Regional Office of the Ministry of Law, Minister Supratman also conducted a trial of an electronic voting (e-voting) system. This digital tool is intended to enhance transparency and talent management within the ministry by allowing employees to participate in selecting new regional heads. This move is part of a broader digital transformation program aimed at improving both public services and internal human resource management through systems like 'Satria', which tracks employee competence and achievements.
