Indonesia's Ministry of Education Launches Safe, Inclusive School Initiative
The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikdasmen) announced a comprehensive program to create safe, comfortable and inclusive learning environments across Indonesia. The effort is tied to the Gerakan Bersama Anak Indonesia 2026 campaign coordinated by the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI). Deputy Minister for Basic Education and Middle School, Atip Latipulhayat, emphasized the need for cross‑sector collaboration to ensure schools are free from violence, bullying and discrimination.
Key components include the Safe and Comfortable School Culture Movement, the Rukun Sama Teman initiative, a welcoming school environment introduction (MPLS) program, and the Seven Habits of Great Indonesian Children campaign. Teacher and staff capacity will also be strengthened through counseling training for guidance counselors and non‑counselor teachers, aiming to provide better support for students. The ministry called on all educational institutions to promptly implement and monitor these measures.
