Indonesia's Ministry of Religion Secures Rp5.8 Trillion Boost for Teacher and Lecturer Allowances

Indonesia's Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) received approval from the Ministry of Finance for an additional budget of roughly Rp5.783 trillion to fund professional allowances for teachers and lecturers in 2026. The approval was issued through a Surat Penetapan Satuan Anggaran Bagian Anggaran (SP SABA), which authorises the increase in employee spending for the ministry.

The funds will be used to pay the Tunjangan Profesi Guru (TPG) for teachers of Islamic religious education and madrasa teachers who completed the Pendidikan Profesi Guru program in 2025 but have not yet received their allowance for 2026, as well as to cover professional allowances for lecturers at religious higher‑education institutions. Administrative steps, including DIPA processing for 604 work units, remain before the money can be disbursed.
