Indonesia's National Nutrition Agency adjusts MBG program incentives
The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) is adjusting the incentive mechanism for Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) within the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program. Starting October 5, 2026, incentives will shift from a flat rate of Rp6 million per day to a per-portion model. Under the new scheme, Rp2,000 of the Rp15,000 meal budget is allocated as an incentive, meaning payments will be proportional to the actual number of meals distributed.
To support the nutritional content of the program, the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) has partnered with the BGN to ensure a steady supply of fish protein. This collaboration involves synchronizing fish production planning with MBG needs and facilitating the distribution of aquaculture products. BGN Head Sudaryono emphasized that fish will be a primary protein source in the meal menus to support the program's nutritional goals.
