The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) under chief Sudaryono is focusing its free nutritious‑meal (MBG) program on districts with high or very high stunting rates, mapping 182 districts with moderate, 220 with high and 92 with very high stunting. The agency plans to build or activate MBG kitchens in these priority areas and integrate beneficiary data with national ID numbers.

BGN disclosed a pending debt of Rp1.6 trillion to third‑party contractors from 2025 activities, which is currently under audit before any payment is made. In a separate move, the agency terminated 261 problematic staff members, comprising 224 non‑civil servants and 37 expert personnel.

Sudaryono also proposed that the BGN supervisory board be filled with qualified nutritionists, pediatricians, obstetricians and even chefs to improve program oversight. To strengthen public interaction, BGN launched a Pusat Pelayanan Terpadu (Integrated Service Center) offering complaint and information channels via WhatsApp, call‑center and website.

The agency is preparing a pilot to distribute free meals in conflict‑prone regions, coordinating with the Indonesian military and police and using public facilities such as churches. Sudaryono rejected claims that the MBG program exhausts the state budget, noting continued funding for school renovations, fertilizer subsidies and irrigation projects. He also clarified that damage to a school in Grobogan predates the MBG program and is being repaired by the government.
