Indonesia appoints Nanik S Deyang as head of Badan Gizi Nasional

President Prabowo Subianto reshuffled the leadership of Indonesia’s Badan Gizi Nasional (BGN) on 8 June 2026. He removed former head Dadan Hindayana and his two vice‑heads, Lodewyk Pusung and Sony Sanjaya, after they were named suspects in a corruption probe over the Makan Bergizi Gratis (MBG) nutrition program. Nanik S Deyang was sworn in as the new BGN chief and Agustina Arumsari and Major General (TNI) Trenggono were appointed as vice‑heads. Trenggono resigned from the armed forces following his appointment. During the ceremony Nanik broke into tears and pledged to improve internal governance, close non‑compliant MBG kitchens, enforce hygiene and halal certification, and overhaul data and budgeting practices. The administration emphasised that the MBG program will continue uninterrupted while the new team works to increase transparency and efficiency.

The former head Dadan Hindayana has been charged with graft related to the procurement of over 21,000 electric motorcycles for the MBG programme, a case that also implicated his former deputies. The leadership change aims to restore public confidence in the national nutrition effort and address the operational shortcomings highlighted by recent investigations.
