Indonesia’s National Nutrition Agency MBG Corruption Probe Expands

The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) continues a wide‑ranging investigation into alleged corruption in the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme overseen by the National Nutrition Agency (BGN). Six former BGN officials have been named as suspects: former heads Dadan Hindayana, Sony Sonjaya and Lodewyk Pusung, private actors Asep Yusuf Somantri, Andri Mulyono (commissioner of PT Yasa Artha Trimanunggal) and Glory Harimas Sihombing, chair of the Indonesia Food Security Review foundation. Investigators allege illegal allocation and sale of SPPG (food‑service unit) locations, mark‑up of procurement contracts for electric motorcycles, shoes, tablets and other goods, and receipt of cash from private partners.

Kejagung has sealed 17,600 electric motorcycles stored in warehouses in Sentul and other locations, and seized a Toyota Alphard belonging to Asep Yusuf Somantri. The agency also inspected a motor‑bike warehouse linked to the MBG procurement.

Meanwhile, BGN announced a temporary suspension of MBG distribution and daily incentives of Rp 6 million during school holidays, forecasting savings of about Rp 3‑3.4 trillion. It is also drafting a “cluster” model for SPPG kitchens to tailor operations to remote (3T) regions.

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has paused its own probe, citing ongoing work by Kejagung, and will coordinate further action if needed.
