Indonesia has imposed a ban on the export of raw nickel, a key material for electric‑vehicle batteries. The policy forces multinational manufacturers to invest in local processing facilities and employ the country’s large, youthful workforce, which averages just 30 years of age. Analysts say the move is shifting the centre of battery‑supply chain investment toward the archipelago.

The nation’s digital ecosystem also supports rapid economic expansion. A combined platform known as GoTo, formed by the merger of Gojek and Tokopedia, offers a single “super‑app” that integrates services such as ride‑hailing, food delivery, payments, lending and shopping, accelerating transaction speeds and digital adoption across the population.

Together, the resource‑nationalism strategy and advanced digital infrastructure are positioning Indonesia as a rising power in the global green‑technology market, compelling traditional battery producers to relocate production and re‑evaluate supply‑chain dependencies.
