Indonesia's Nutrition Agency Chief Nanik Sudaryati Resigns for Heart Treatment Abroad

Nanik Sudaryati Deyang announced on Facebook that she is stepping down as head of the Badan Gizi Nasional (BGN) to undergo heart treatment overseas. She said she seeks a second medical opinion and that President Prabowo Subianto has accepted her resignation and appointed Deputy Agriculture Minister Sudaryono as her successor.

Nanik clarified that she is not under investigation despite rumors linking her to alleged corruption in the free nutritious meals (MBG) program. She disclosed that she received calls and messages of support from cabinet members and the Attorney General, and she posted a photo of a visit by Presidential Communications Adviser Hasan Nasbi during a week-long hospitalization in Jakarta before departing abroad. The president is expected to form a BGN supervisory board, with Nanik reportedly offered the chairmanship, a role that would not involve direct handling of funds.
