Badan Gizi Nasional returns Rp311 bn after uncovering 414 problematic kitchens

The head of Indonesia’s National Nutrition Agency (Badan Gizi Nasional, BGN), Sudaryono, announced that an audit of the free‑meal program’s kitchens identified 414 Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi (SPPG) with irregularities such as double virtual‑account numbers, fictitious or non‑operational kitchens. Funds that had already been transferred to these accounts were reclaimed and returned to the state treasury, amounting to Rp311,246,295,184 (about 311 billion rupiah). The money was repaid through five banks: Bank BRI (121 kitchens, Rp137.5 bn), Bank BNI (117 kitchens, Rp74 bn), Bank Mandiri (129 kitchens, Rp71.6 bn), Bank Syariah Indonesia (19 kitchens, Rp12.9 bn) and Bank BTN (28 kitchens, Rp15.3 bn). BGN has reported the findings to the Attorney General’s Office for possible criminal investigation and said it will continue inspecting other SPPG accounts for further anomalies.
