Indonesia's OJK clamps down on illegal crypto promotions by finfluencers
Indonesia's Financial Services Authority (OJK) and the anti‑illegal finance task force Satgas PASTI have intensified oversight of cryptocurrency and investment promotions on social media. The agencies summoned several key opinion leaders (KOLs) and finfluencers for questioning over their promotion of unlicensed Digital Asset Traders (PAKD).
Satgas PASTI reported that the contacted influencers have removed or adjusted content that offered illegal PAKD services. OJK has published an official list of licensed PAKD platforms and warned that entities not on the list are unregulated and pose a risk to consumers.
To strengthen consumer protection, Satgas PASTI issued seven guidelines for finfluencers, covering due‑diligence, legal verification, transparent risk disclosure, and prohibition of misleading claims. OJK is also drafting specific regulations for financial influencers to formalise these requirements. The coordinated actions aim to curb illegal digital asset offerings, protect investors and keep crypto activity within the regulated national ecosystem.
