Indonesia's OJK closes 27 illegal pawnshops and 228 illicit crypto traders

Indonesia's Financial Services Authority (OJK) task force Satgas PASTI halted operations of 27 private pawnshop entities operating without a licence and 228 illegal digital‑asset‑trading outlets (PAKD) during 2026. The pawnshop shutdown covered activities from April‑May, while the crypto‑trader closures spanned January‑May, both enforced under the 2023 Financial Sector Development Law and OJK Regulation No. 27/2024.

The regulator reported that 998,558 accounts were investigated, 515,553 were blocked and approximately Rp638.9 billion of suspect funds were frozen. The Indonesia Anti‑Scam Centre (IASC) returned about Rp196.93 billion to victims. Officials urged the public to report suspected illegal investment offers via OJK’s Satgas PASTI portal and to verify the legitimacy of crypto assets against the officially published Digital Asset List.

Satgas PASTI chair Hudiyanto said, “We continue to strengthen efforts to eradicate illegal financial activities and protect consumers,” emphasizing coordinated action with related agencies to curb fraud schemes such as false Chinese drama investment offers.
