Indonesia's OJK imposes sanctions on 99 financial firms for compliance breaches
Indonesia's Financial Services Authority (OJK) issued administrative sanctions against a total of 99 financial entities in June‑July 2026. In one action, OJK penalised 54 actors in the financing, venture‑capital and digital‑financing (Pindar) sectors – 38 financing companies, 2 venture‑capital firms and 14 Pindar platforms – for breaches of regulatory provisions. The regulator noted ongoing monitoring of capital adequacy, with several firms still below the required core capital and equity thresholds, and cited industry performance data such as a loan portfolio of Rp 513.19 trillion and a gross non‑performing financing ratio of 3.06 %.
A separate enforcement round targeted 45 financial service providers for failing to submit required reports on financial literacy and inclusion activities for the second half of 2025 and plans for 2026. Of these, 16 received written warnings and 29 were fined a total of Rp 1.7 billion. Additional penalties included eight fines of Rp 570 million for missing self‑assessment reports and 72 sanctions – 24 fines totalling Rp 5.24 billion and 48 warnings – for consumer‑protection violations such as improper advertising and debt‑collection practices. OJK ordered the affected firms to adjust policies, advertising and compliance procedures to prevent recurring breaches.
