Indonesia's OJK approves merger of BPR Ophir into BPR Swadaya Anak Nagari
The Financial Services Authority (OJK) issued a decision permitting the merger of PT Bank Perekonomian Rakyat (BPR) Ophir into PT BPR Swadaya Anak Nagari, a bank based in Pasaman Barat, West Sumatra. The approval, formalised in Decision No. KEP-44/D.03/2026 dated 19 June 2026, is part of OJK’s broader consolidation drive aimed at strengthening capital bases, enhancing competitiveness, and improving governance and risk‑management practices among rural banks.
OJK provincial head Roni Nazra said the merger will help BPRs better serve micro‑, small‑ and medium‑size enterprises and the wider community while adhering to prudent banking principles. Following the merger, the number of BPRs in the province fell to 59 (from 63 the previous year) as similar consolidations continue under the roadmap for BPR and BPR‑Syariah development through 2027.
