Indonesia's OJK pushes ahead with mineral exchange launch by 2027

Indonesia's Financial Services Authority (OJK) is accelerating preparations for a new mineral and strategic commodities exchange slated to begin operations on 1 January 2027. Chairman of the OJK Board, Friderica Widyasari Dewi, said the exchange will create an integrated ecosystem covering trading, clearing, warehousing and financing, and aims to position Indonesia as a global hub for mineral trade.

Commission XI member Mukhamad Misbakhun urged the government to immediately form a selection committee to appoint the new OJK Board and the executive head of the exchange, noting that the pending Treasury Regulation will set the timeline. "The committee must be formed now so the infrastructure and POJK can be prepared," Misbakhun said.

Separately, OJK has asked the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, to consider fiscal incentives for non‑delivery gold exchange‑traded funds (ETFs). OJK Chair Friderica explained that such incentives would ease tax treatment for the new product, while the minister acknowledged the need to study the proposal.
