Indonesia's OJK reports 59 million student accounts holding Rp29 trillion in Q1 2026
The Financial Services Authority (OJK) said that by the end of the first quarter of 2026 there were 59.03 million student savings accounts in Indonesia, with total deposits of Rp 29.13 trillion. The number of accounts grew 1.25 % year‑on‑year, which OJK’s executive director Dicky Kartikoyono said “indicates broader access and participation of students in the formal financial system.”
The growth reflects the progress of the “Satu Rekening Satu Pelajar” (KEJAR) program, now covering 88.36 % of students. OJK stressed that although student deposits remain a small share of total third‑party funds, they are strategically important for expanding the banking customer base and fostering a savings culture from an early age. The regulator expects the positive trend to continue through 2026, focusing on expanding access, encouraging more active use of accounts, and strengthening financial education for students.
