Indonesia's OJK reports record online loan and multifinance debt levels
The Financial Services Authority (OJK) said outstanding financing for Indonesia's online lending sector (pindar) reached 103.73 trillion rupiah in May 2026, a 25.6 % year‑on‑year increase and an addition of about 1.66 trillion rupiah from the previous month. The aggregate credit‑risk ratio (TWP90) stood at 4.42 %. OJK noted that eight of 144 financing firms and eight of 94 online lenders still failed to meet minimum capital requirements, and it imposed administrative sanctions on dozens of companies for regulatory breaches.
In the same period, OJK reported that the total loan portfolio of multifinance companies grew to 513.19 trillion rupiah, up 1.71 % year‑on‑year. Net non‑performing financing rose to 0.85 % from 0.78 % previously, while gross NPF increased to 3.06 %. The sector's gearing ratio remained stable at 2.14 times, well below the 10‑times ceiling. OJK executive Agusman highlighted that growth was supported by a 7.96 % rise in working‑capital financing.
