Indonesia's Papua and East Kalimantan Leaders Back 2026 Economic Census and Growth Forum

Minister of Internal Affairs Muhammad Tito Karnavian urged all heads of local government in Papua to support the 2026 Economic Census being carried out by Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS). He said the census will provide accurate economic data needed for policy‑making, noting, “Saya mohon dengan hormat kita dukung sensus ekonomi yang diselenggarakan oleh BPS di Indonesia, khususnya di Papua Raya.” The appeal was made during the Regional Papua Government Performance Appreciation event in Jayapura.

In East Kalimantan's Kutai Timur regency, Regent Ardiansyah Sulaiman welcomed MTMA and the Media Collaboration Space’s plan to host the Kutim Growth Forum 2026. He described the forum as a national‑scale gathering of government, business, academia and community representatives aimed at boosting agriculture, tourism, the creative economy and UMKM development, stating, “Salah satu agenda utama... adalah rencana penyelenggaraan Kutim Economic Forum, sebuah forum berskala nasional.” The forum is intended to strengthen the region’s economic transformation.
