Sumatra Post‑Flood Reconstruction Funding Accelerated by Indonesian Government

The Indonesian government is speeding up the release of funds for reconstruction after severe floods in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra. The Ministry of Social Affairs, under the Post‑Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Task Force (Satgas PRR), announced the distribution of nearly Rp1 trillion to ten districts, reaching more than 82,000 beneficiaries with house‑repair assistance, socio‑economic empowerment programmes and three‑month livelihood guarantees.

President Prabowo Subianto has approved a total rehabilitation budget of Rp100.1 trillion through 2028, split into three annual tranches (Rp38.9 trillion in 2026, Rp32.9 trillion in 2027 and Rp28.2 trillion in 2028). About Rp39.8 trillion has already been transferred to five ministries, and an additional Transfer to Regions (TKD) of Rp10.6 trillion has been allocated to the three provinces, with Rp1.6 trillion for Aceh, Rp2.3 trillion for West Sumatra and Rp6.1 trillion for North Sumatra.

Home Affairs Minister Muhammad Tito Karnavian urged regional governments to deploy the funds immediately and set a deadline for completing inter‑regional grant transfers by the following week, emphasizing that swift utilisation is essential for the permanent recovery phase.
