Indonesia's Pertamax fuel price expected to drop in July 2026

Energy economist Fahmy Radhi of Universitas Gadjah Mada said Pertamax prices are likely to be reduced from 1 July 2026 as global crude oil prices have fallen below US$70 per barrel. He linked the decline to eased tensions between the United States, Israel and Iran and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, which had previously constrained supply. Radhi warned that if Pertamax prices remain above market levels, the government should intervene to cut them.

Pertamina announced its latest retail fuel price list on 27 June 2026. The non‑subsidised Pertamax price for regions with a 5 % tax, including Jakarta, rose to Rp16,250 per litre, up from Rp12,300. Pertamax Green 95 increased to Rp17,000 per litre, up from Rp12,900. Prices for Pertamax Turbo (RON 98), Dexlite and Pertamina Dex remained unchanged.

The contrasting developments illustrate how Indonesia’s fuel pricing responds both to international oil market movements and domestic regulatory adjustments.
