Indonesia's PLN and Pelindo launch community waste and seagrass CSR initiatives

State-owned electricity company PLN's Maluku and North Maluku unit began a "Pay for Electricity with Waste" program in partnership with Beta Bank Sampah. The scheme trains residents of PLN‑peduli neighbourhoods to sort and process household waste, turning it into economic benefits that can be used to offset electricity bills. General Manager Noer Soeratmoko said the effort aims to build long‑term self‑reliance and cleaner environments.

Shipping firm PT Pelindo Sinergi Lokaseva started its LESTARI CSR project by planting 1,000 seagrass seedlings in Cuku Nyinyi, Lampung, and offering coastal communities training in sustainable crab and shrimp farming. Senior Vice President Dewi Fitriyani highlighted the role of seagrass in shoreline protection, water‑quality improvement and blue‑carbon storage, linking ecosystem restoration with local economic empowerment.
