Indonesia's PLN confirms electricity tariffs unchanged for May 2026

State electricity company PT PLN (Persero) denied social‑media rumors of a tariff hike for May 2026, labeling the reports as hoaxes. The company reiterated that the government has kept electricity rates the same for the April‑June 2026 period, a decision also confirmed by Energy Minister Bahlil Lahadalia. The move is intended to protect consumer purchasing power and support national industry competitiveness.

PLN released the official tariff schedule for all customer categories, ranging from 1,352 IDR/kWh for 900 VA households to 996.74 IDR/kWh for large industrial users. Although macro‑economic parameters such as the rupiah‑dollar exchange rate, crude oil price, inflation and coal price could affect rates, the government chose to maintain them unchanged, urging consumers to use electricity efficiently.
