Indonesia's PLN Indonesia Power Targets Latin America and Caribbean for Clean Energy Expansion

Indonesia’s state‑owned power firm PT PLN Indonesia Power (PLN IP) is seeking to expand its clean‑energy business into the Latin America and Caribbean region. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Arief Havas Oegroseno said the move aims to deepen investment cooperation in the energy sector, describing the partnership as a win‑win situation that could also serve as a staging ground for Asian market entry.

CEO Bernadus Sudarmanta highlighted the region’s strong potential for renewable projects, noting that PLN IP can contribute its experience, technology and end‑to‑end capability across a 22.1 GW portfolio. At the 2nd Ambassadors’ Dialogue on trade and investment between Indonesia and Latin AmericaCaribbean, the company outlined plans for large‑scale solar PV and mini‑hydro projects, and offered to work with local partners on feasibility studies, operational joint ventures and financing schemes. The initiative aligns with Indonesia’s broader diplomatic‑economic agenda and the global transition to sustainable energy.
