Indonesia's public housing plans face budget constraints

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo said the plan to build 11 large public housing complexes in the capital is still being discussed with the city council and is slated for completion by 2027. The sites include Muara Angke, Marunda (clusters A, B, C), Komarudin, Rorotan IX, Cakung (KM 2, Drain, Semper), Tongkol (stage III), Bojong Indah and Daan Mogot (KM 18). The projects aim to serve both programmed and general residents under the 2024 housing regulation and are expected to be supported by the national 3‑million‑house program.

Separately, the Ministry of Housing and Settlements warned that the 2027 budget allocation of only Rp 37.1 billion for post‑disaster housing will cover merely 118 homes, far short of the 18,104 units needed across disaster‑hit regions such as Flores Timur, Nusa Tenggara Timur and Sumatra. Officials estimate a total requirement of about Rp 5.20 trillion, highlighting a significant funding gap for rebuilding homes for disaster victims.
