Indonesia civil service faces transfer dispute and attendance fraud

Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo addressed rumors that more than 100 civil servants were transferred after a leaked document listed his wife and child in a delegation to the United States. He said transfers are normal in an organisation of 38,600 employees, denied any use of state funds for his family’s travel and stressed that costs were covered privately.

He also disclosed a massive attendance‑record fraud within the ministry, estimating 3,000–4,000 staff – about one in ten – had falsified electronic attendance logs, prompting a large‑scale reshuffling of officials.

Separately, Head of the State Civil Service Agency Zudan Arif Fakrulloh told a parliamentary working session that many civil servants fear retirement because pensions drop to about 75 % of base salary (roughly Rp 4‑5 million). He said a new single‑salary system is being drafted for presidential and ministerial review to improve retirees’ welfare.
