Indonesia's Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo Lasmono faces scrutiny over family members on NY trip
A leaked document listing the delegation of Indonesia's Ministry of Public Works (PU) for a United Nations meeting in New York revealed that Minister Dody Hanggodo Lasmono's wife, Irma Hermawati, and daughter, Aurellia Tsabitha Meidirama, were included. Social‑media users speculated the trip could also serve to watch the 2026 World Cup final in nearby New Jersey.
The ministry cited regulations permitting a minister’s spouse to travel abroad on official business if approved by the President, but noted that no provision exists for children, whose expenses would be personal. Sekjen of the PU, Apri Artoto, confirmed the family members were listed for visa administration purposes and emphasized that any travel costs for the wife and daughter would be funded privately, not from the state budget (APBN). The ministry is investigating the source of the document leak and has not issued a full explanation.
The primary objective of the delegation remains participation in the High‑Level Meeting on the Mid‑Term Review of the New Urban Agenda hosted by the UN.
