Indonesia's SPPI training for Red White Cooperative ends amid doubt

The Indonesian Ministry of Defense held a closing ceremony for the Sarjana Penggerak Pembangunan Indonesia (SPPI) training of Red White Cooperative (Koperasi Merah Putih) managers on 31 July 2026 at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base in East Jakarta. The ceremony, attended by about 3,500 participants, marked the end of a one‑and‑a‑half‑month program that trained 33,758 trainees nationwide in cooperative management, discipline, patriotism and national defence. The first wave of the program included 28,626 prospective village‑level cooperative managers and 5,159 prospective fisher‑village managers.

A Saiful Mujani Research and Consulting (SMRC) survey released in July 2026 found that while 77 % of respondents were aware of the Red White Cooperative program, only 2.4 % were very confident it would succeed. About 22.6 % were somewhat confident, whereas 61 % expressed doubt or lack of confidence in the program’s development under President Prabowo Subianto’s administration.
