Indonesia's Trade Minister Budi Santoso Boosts Ties with Morocco and China

Indonesia's Trade Minister Budi Santoso announced a deepening of economic cooperation with Morocco, citing a 33 % rise in bilateral trade to US$255 million in 2025 and a further 42 % increase in the first five months of 2026. The two countries signed commercial agreements worth $40.7 million, a mutual recognition agreement on halal products, and discussed collaboration in green technology, renewable energy and vocational training.

Santoso also said Indonesia is ready to facilitate a Chinese investment plan in the horticulture sector. The proposal, presented by a delegation from Jiangsu province, targets the development of supply‑chain infrastructure for premium fruits such as durian, avocado, mangosteen and red dragon fruit, including cold‑storage facilities and technology transfer. The ministry pledged to connect investors with suitable local partners and support export growth.
