Indonesia's Transport Ministry Orders Ride‑hailing Apps to Explain 8% Fee to Drivers

Minister of Transport Dudy Purwagandhi instructed online‑ride‑hailing platform operators to provide detailed explanations to drivers about a new 8 percent application fee that took effect on 1 July 2026. The minister said the Ministry has not yet received an official report from driver associations confirming the fee's implementation and noted differing interpretations among drivers on how the deduction is calculated.

The request follows the Presidential Decree No. 27/2026 on protection of online transport workers and the accompanying ministerial regulation, which became officially enforceable on 1 July 2026. Dudy emphasized that the regulator expects platform operators to clarify the fee structure to prevent misunderstandings and ensure compliance with the new rules.
