Indonesia's UMKM Initiatives Advance Branding, Digital Tech and Pancasila Economy
Micro, small and medium enterprises (UMKM) in Indonesia are receiving coordinated support to improve product quality, market reach and alignment with national economic principles. In Wanagiri, Buleleng, Bali, a community‑service program led by Prof. Dr. Ir. Luh Suriati of Warmadewa University provided food‑processing UMKM with modern branding guidance, hygienic packaging, a continuous‑band sealing machine, and training on e‑commerce platforms. The initiative also introduced circular‑economy practices, teaching producers to convert food‑processing waste into animal feed.
Meanwhile, the Pengurus Wilayah Nahdlatul Ulama (PWNU) of East Java organized a forum titled “Cangkrukan Ekonomi Pancasila: Mengawal UMKM Naik Kelas.” Chaired by KH Abdul Hakim Mahfudz (Gus Kikin), the event gathered UMKM owners, government officials, academics and business leaders to discuss policies that ensure fair access to finance, permits, raw materials and technology. The forum reinforced President Prabowo Subianto’s emphasis on an “Ekonomi Pancasila” that places UMKM at the core of Indonesia’s socioeconomic development.
