Indonesia's Women and Child Protection Ministry Ensures Rights for Malang Sexual Violence Victims

The Ministry of Women and Child Protection (KemenPPPA) visited two child victims of sexual violence in Malang, East Java, to verify their ongoing needs. One child was abused by a close person and the other fell victim to a fraudulent traditional‑medicine ritual; both are pregnant as a result of the assaults.

KemenPPPA officials, led by Assistant Deputy Ciput Eka Purwianti, coordinated with the East Java provincial government, district agencies (DP3A, DP3AK, UPTD PPA), and the local social, health and education departments, as well as the families, to provide integrated services. Those services include legal assistance, psychological counseling, social protection, prenatal health care, continued education, and planning for future parenting. Purwianti emphasized that “handling cannot focus only on the legal process; it must ensure all rights of the child, including those still in utero.” The ministry pledged continued monitoring to secure comprehensive rights for the children.
