Indore food safety officials inspect establishments for hygiene violations
The Food Safety Administration conducted a series of inspections at various food establishments in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, to check for hygiene and safety compliance. During raids at roadside eateries (dhabas) on the bypass, officials identified several deficiencies, including improper storage, lack of food registration certificates, and poor drainage in wash areas. In some instances, vegetarian and non-vegetarian raw materials were found stored in the same freezer.
Inspections also extended to restaurants and sweet shops, such as Curry Eve's, Apna Sweets, and New Sundar Hotel. Common violations included the absence of medical certificates for staff, lack of pest control documentation, and the use of open dustbins in kitchens.
Authorities collected numerous food samples, including paneer, various dals, spices, gravies, and rice, to be sent to the State Food Testing Laboratory in Bhopal for analysis. Notices are being issued to the establishments based on the observed shortcomings, and further legal action will be taken following the laboratory reports.
