Indore Metro expands service with new 17-km route

The Indore Metro has officially expanded its service with the inauguration of the second phase, covering a 17-kilometer route from Gandhi Nagar to Malviya Nagar Chauraha. The expansion, developed at an estimated cost of ₹2,850 crore, includes 16 operational stations. The project was inaugurated by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and Union Minister Manohar Lal.

Starting September 6, 2026, the metro will operate daily from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with trains running every 15 minutes and completing over 80 trips per day. The service features modern amenities such as air-conditioned coaches, digital ticketing via mobile apps, and cashless payment options including UPI and QR codes. To encourage ridership, the Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MPMRCL) has introduced promotional discounts, including 5% off return journeys and 10% off group tickets.

The expanded network aims to improve connectivity between residential, commercial, and employment hubs, including the Super Corridor. Officials noted that the metro serves as a tool for urban transformation and economic growth, helping to reduce traffic congestion and emissions in the city.
