Indore Metro service expansion
Overview
The Indore Metro project in Madhya Pradesh has entered a new phase of expansion and operational deployment. The second phase of the service was inaugurated, adding a 17-kilometer route from Gandhi Nagar to Malviya Nagar Chauraha. This expansion includes 16 stations and is intended to improve connectivity between residential and commercial hubs, such as the Super Corridor.
In conjunction with these developments, Alstom has commenced revenue operations for a phase of the Indore Metro Yellow Line. The project utilizes Alstom’s Movia trainsets and Urbalis Forward CBTC signaling systems. The Yellow Line consists of a 31.5-kilometer stretch, with 16.72 kilometers currently in operation. The rolling stock and digital solutions for the project were designed and manufactured in India under the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiatives.
