Nigerian woman arrested in Indore with cocaine worth 29 lakh rupees
Police in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, have arrested a Nigerian woman, identified as Emmanuel Joy, for possession of 57.18 grams of cocaine. The seized drugs are valued at approximately 29 lakh rupees (roughly 40.9 million Naira).
Joy, a resident of Lagos, Nigeria, was intercepted by the Chandan Nagar police near IT Park, Sinhasa, during routine patrols. Authorities stated she appeared suspicious and provided unsatisfactory answers during questioning. A search of her bag revealed the cocaine concealed in a transparent plastic bag.
Investigations suggest a drug supply network connecting Mumbai and Indore. Joy reportedly arrived in India from Nigeria on August 14 on a business visa and had been residing in Bandra East, Mumbai, where she worked at a hair salon with her sister.
A court has placed Joy on a five-day police remand. Investigators are currently analyzing her mobile phone, including deleted WhatsApp chats and suspicious contact numbers, to identify local suppliers, buyers, and other members of the international drug network.
