Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison launches 1 GW AI Factory JV in Batang, Indonesia

Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (IOH) has formed a joint venture called Zankore with Nvidia, Nokia and Ooredoo Group to build a large‑scale artificial‑intelligence computing facility in Batang, Central Java. The AI factory will start with about 200 MW of capacity in the first half of 2027 and is planned to expand to a total of 1 GW, making it the biggest AI infrastructure project in Southeast Asia.

The partnership includes a $800 million investment from Ooredoo, which will hold a 49 % stake, while the other partners have undisclosed equity positions. The venture will host an open‑source Indonesian large language model with 70 billion parameters and aims to support regional demand for secure, scalable AI computing. Indonesian Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid praised the project as a signal of growing global confidence in Indonesia’s digital economy.
